Radiant Maternity Portraits to Celebrate This Season

Pregnancy is a season unlike any other — and it passes faster than you expect.

There’s a particular kind of beauty in these months: the anticipation, the way your body is doing something extraordinary, the quiet moments before your family changes forever. I create maternity portraits that honor this season with warmth, elegance, and genuine emotion — images you’ll treasure long after your baby has arrived.

Serving families throughout Medina County and Northeast Ohio, I bring nearly three decades of experience working with expecting mothers, babies, and families as a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Board-Certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist. That background means every pose is chosen with real comfort and safety in mind — never anything that leaves you strained, off-balance, or overheated during a session.

A Relaxed Maternity Photography Experience

Maternity sessions shouldn’t add to your to-do list of stress.

Growing a baby is hard enough work on its own. My goal during our session together is to make you feel comfortable, supported, and genuinely radiant — not posed into positions that feel unnatural or uncomfortable for where you are in your pregnancy. We move at your pace, with plenty of breaks, water, and time to simply breathe.

With nearly three decades of experience caring for bodies at every stage — including pregnant patients and new parents — I know how to guide gentle, flattering poses that highlight your changing shape without ever compromising your comfort. If something doesn’t feel right, we adjust immediately. There’s no rushing and no pressure.

The result is a gallery of images that feel like you — soft, luminous, and honest, rather than stiff or overly staged.

Why Expecting Families Choose to Work With Me

This season deserves more than a quick phone photo in the mirror.

Every maternity session is planned around creating artwork you’ll want on your walls for years — something that captures not just how you looked, but how this time in your life felt.

Families choose to work with me because they value:

  • A personalized photography experience from beginning to end
  • Nearly 30 years of professional experience working with expecting mothers and growing families
  • Gentle, safety-minded posing informed by a physical therapy background
  • Timeless editing that never goes out of style
  • The option to include partners, children, and even the family dog
  • Professional assistance with wardrobe planning
  • Fine art prints, albums, and custom wall art designed to last for generations

My goal isn’t simply to deliver digital images. It’s to give you something to hold onto from a season that, however long it feels in the moment, is genuinely over in the blink of an eye.

What to Expect During Your Maternity Session

an affectionate maternity and family studio portrait in strongsville ohio

Every maternity session is built around you — your due date, your comfort, and how you want to be photographed.

Sessions can include:

  • Solo portraits of you and your growing belly
  • Portraits with your partner
  • Sessions that include siblings-to-be
  • Studio or outdoor settings
  • Gentle, flowing gowns or your own wardrobe

Most expecting moms schedule their session in the third trimester, generally sometime between about 28 and 36 weeks — early enough that you’re still comfortable moving and standing for a portion of the session, but late enough that your bump is beautifully full. Every pregnancy is different, though, so we’ll talk about timing based on how you’re feeling and your due date specifically.

Studio or Outdoor Maternity Photography

Whether you picture a soft, elegant studio session or an outdoor portrait surrounded by natural light and Northeast Ohio scenery, we’ll choose the setting that feels most like you.

Studio sessions offer complete control over lighting, temperature, and comfort — a good option if standing for long periods outdoors sounds exhausting, or if you love the timeless, editorial look of a clean studio backdrop. Outdoor sessions bring a softer, more natural feel, especially beautiful in the golden light of early evening.

Either way, the priority is the same: you feeling comfortable enough to relax into the session, so what comes through in the images is genuine, not forced.

What Should I Wear?

Wardrobe is one of the first questions almost every expecting mom asks me, and there’s no need to stress over it.

I keep a small wardrobe of maternity gowns on hand that you’re welcome to borrow for your session — flowing styles that photograph beautifully and highlight your shape without clinging or feeling restrictive. If you’d rather wear your own clothing, that’s perfectly fine too; soft, fitted pieces in neutral or muted tones tend to photograph best, letting you — not a busy pattern — remain the focus of the image.

We’ll go over all of this together before your session date, so you’re not figuring it out alone the morning of.

More Than Digital Images

This season of your life deserves more than a folder buried on a phone or hard drive.

That’s why I believe your maternity portraits deserve to live on your walls, in a beautifully crafted album, or somewhere you’ll actually see them — not scrolled past in a camera roll. Professional heirloom artwork turns this fleeting chapter into something lasting, for you and for the child who will one day get to see exactly what this season looked like.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to schedule a maternity session?

Most expecting moms schedule their maternity session sometime in the third trimester, generally between about 28 and 36 weeks, when your bump is full but you’re typically still comfortable standing and moving for a portion of the session. If you’re not sure what’s right for you, reach out and we can talk through timing based on your due date and how you’re feeling.

Can my partner or other children be included?

Absolutely. Many maternity sessions include a partner, and some include siblings-to-be as well — these images often become some of the most treasured from the whole pregnancy. Just let me know who you’d like included when we plan your session.

What if I don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera?

That’s completely normal, and you’re not alone. My job is to guide you into poses that feel natural and flattering, not to leave you guessing what to do with your hands. Most moms tell me they relaxed far more than they expected to once we got started.

Do you provide gowns or maternity wardrobe?

Yes — I have a small wardrobe of maternity gowns available for you to borrow during your session. If you’d rather bring and wear your own clothing, that’s perfectly fine too; I’ll help guide you toward what will photograph beautifully.

Where do maternity sessions take place?

Sessions can be done in a studio setting or outdoors, depending on what feels right for you. We’ll choose the setting together based on your comfort and the look you’re hoping for.

How long does a maternity session take?

Maternity sessions run about 1 hour, and your gallery includes 20-30 fully edited, high-resolution images. See pricing and session details for the full breakdown.

Is it safe to be photographed late in pregnancy?

Yes — sessions are paced entirely around your comfort, with breaks built in as needed. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy with nearly three decades of experience, I’m always mindful of positioning that’s safe and comfortable at every stage of pregnancy, and we simply stop and adjust if anything doesn’t feel right.

Can we book maternity and newborn sessions together?

Yes, and many families do exactly that. I offer a Bump to Baby Bundle for families who book both sessions together — reach out and I’ll help you plan your maternity and newborn sessions around your due date, and apply the bundle savings, so nothing falls through the cracks during a busy time.
